Travel to Concord, MA |
|
The Wicked traveled to Concord Mass this
weekend for a all women's over 30 tournament. Playing their first game
on Friday night against the Storm Chasers a back and forth game ending
in a 0-0 tie. The Wicked got their first point in a tournament
outside of PA. Saturday morning game was a tough one against the team to
beat in the D division the Shore Shots. Micheline Benn scored her first
goal of the season 24 seconds in the game. A hard fought first period
almost over the Shore Shots scored late to tie it up. The Wicked jumped
out to a 3-1 Lead on goals by Janelle Tablada and Amy Keller in the
second period. The Wicked couldn't hold on to the lead and the Shore
Shots came back with 2 of their own to tie the score. With score still
tied and a face off deep in the Shore Shots zone the Wicked lose the
face off and the Shore Shots skate to the other end and score the game
winner with 8 seconds left on the clock. What a heart breaker a much
needed point lost in the dying seconds for a 4-3 loss. Saturday Evening
the Wicked played their 3rd game of the tournament against the North
Shore Panthers it was a must win for the Wicked if they wanted any
chance of playing on Sunday. Also it was a clash of colors Pink
(Panthers) and Green (Wicked). It was a scoreless game until the 3rd
period when the NS Panthers scored 2 goals to take command of the game,
but just when you thought it was over the Cindy Brendle scores to make
it 2-1. With the goalie pulled and just seconds left Cindy almost put in
the game tying goal, but the goalie stopped just before it crossed the
line. Another heartbreaking loss in a close game, all in all it was a
good weekend very competitive teams to play, one the Wicked will surely
return to next year. |

moving up a division and finishing in the middle of the pack. Every game
was close never giving up on any game. Hopefully next year we can get
into the playoffs and go all the way. Tournament season is coming up
with 2 in April in Boston Area and at the Hawks, 1 in May in Lancaster,
and the Hockey Fights MS Tournaments in Burlington, VT (July), and
Reading, PA (August). If interested in joining the Wicked for

|
The Wicked went 1-1 over the past
weekend beating the Bridgewater Wings 3-1 on Saturday in a Non-League
game. On Sunday the Wicked went to Harrisburg to play the Black Widows
and lost a heartbreaker 4-1. A win would have helped their playoff hopes
and now they we need a strong finish and some help from the other teams

win again! |
|
The Americans came to town this weekend
to face off with the Wicked. It was a cold afternoon for a pregame
tailgate but I think it must have had something to do with the outcome
of the game. The Americans scored first on a breakaway near the end of
the first period. After taking a penalty late in the first period the
Americans would be on the PK for the start of the second period. The
Wicked had many chances to score but the Americans goalie came up big
time and time again. Finally the Wicked were able to score and the
avalanche of goals began. The star of this day though would be Brittany
Hillman who registered the first Wicked hat trick of the season by
capping of the scoring on an empty net goal. The Wicked started the
second half of the season on a high note with a 7-1 victory. One last
thing to mention about this weeks game the Wicked had an amazing amount
of fans at the game who totally rocked the house without them the game
may have been closer. So from all Wicked players THANK YOU FANS! Next
weekend the Wicked take on the Bridgewater Wings for a Non-league game
then travel to Harrisburg to face the Black Widows who are currently in
a battle with the Wicked for one of those precious playoff spots. |

Half of Season |
|
The second half of the season gets under
way for the Wicked this coming weekend. Staring off with the Americans
coming to town, last time the 2 teams meet the Wicked won 1-0. This past
weekend Wicked played a couple of scrimmage games against the
Bridgewater Wings a 3-2 win and at home against the Hawks C team a 3-2
loss. The weekend before that was the All-star game goaltender Anita
Grafe pitched a shutout in her period of play, and Alica Sikes played a
hard game getting some late chances to break the 1-1 tie. The Wicked
enter the second half of the season with a 4-3-1 UWHL record placing the
right in the middle of the playoff battle. The Wicked are playing some
good hockey right know and will need to continue this play to get in the
playoffs. |

|
The Lehigh Valley Wicked record drops to
1-3-1, one day after getting their first win. The Wicked traveled to
Hamilton NJ to face the 1st place Queenston Hockey Club. The Wicked
jumped out early to a one goal lead that would hold up all the way into
the 3rd period when Queenston fought their way back to tie then
eventually score the game winner late in the 3rd period. Janelle
Tablada score her 3rd goal in two games but it was not enough to give
them the win. The next game for the Wicked is a non-league game against
the Hawks C team on November 24 @ 8:55pm in Warminster. |

Gets First Win of Season |
|
The Lehigh Valley Wicked get their first
win of the season in come from behind fashion. Down 3-1 going into the
3rd period things looked bad but the Wicked kept the pressure eventually
getting 2 goals Janelle Tablada in her second game a Wicked player.
That tied it up 3-3, and goaltender Anita Grafe made some great saves to
keep the game tied. Late in the 3rd period Sarah Gallagher (making her
first appearance of the season) out skated the Senators defense for a
breakaway deked the goalie a couple of times and found the back of the
net. That goal would stand as the game winner as the Wicked fought off a
late penalty and a pulled goalie to take the win. The Wicked look to
start a winning streak tomorrow night in NJ against 1st place Queenston. |
|
November 3, 2007 Wicked Lose
Game 3 |
|
The Wicked played an old rival this weekend
the Philadelphia Freeze. It was a tough game for both sides as there was
allot of action and end to end rushes. Even though the Wicked out shot
the Freeze they came up on the losing end of the 3-1 decision. The
Freeze score one goal in each period, while the Wicked scored in the 3rd
period trying to mount a comeback. The Wicked drop to 0-2-1 and stay in
6th place for know. The Wicked play 2 games this weekend Saturday
November 10 at home against the Lady Senators and Sunday November 11 on
the road against the Queenstown Hockey Club. |
|
October 20, 2007 Wicked Lose Game 2 |
|
The Lehigh Valley Wicked lost for the first
time this season to the Queenstown Hockey Club. The final score was 4-0,
it was not just a one sided game as the Wicked had lots of shots on net
the Queenstown goalie made save after save to seal the victory. The
Wicked have off this coming weekend and their next game is against the
Philadelphia Freeze on Nov. 4 at home @ 2:45pm. |
|
October 13, 2007 Wicked opens Season with a Tie |
|
The Lehigh Valley Wicked open the season
with a tie against the Black Widows from Harrisburg, PA. The game
started off from the beginning to be a goaltenders duel the two teams
traded shots in the first period with no goals scored after one period.
Going into the second the Black Widows scored first on a breakaway, but would not hold the lead for long as Alicia Sikes
scored from just inside the blue line as the puck squeezed through the opposing
goaltenders legs, ending the period in a 1-1 tie. Early in the 3rd period the
Black Widows took a 2-1 lead on a scramble in front of the net . The Wicked fought
through the 3rd period taking back to back penalties. Jen Gallagher
picked up the puck and headed down the ice on a breakaway and beat the
goalie but hit the post. Late in the 3rd period Step Egan took a
interference penalty with 17.8 seconds left giving the Black Widows a
power play and looked to have things wrapped up. A face-off deep in the
Wicked zone Ingo Bouchard gets the face-off win and Jen Gallagher gets
her chance for another breakaway and buries the puck in the back of the
net with 4.6 seconds left to even up the score 2-2. A great game played
by both teams the score may have been much worse if both goalies had not
played great games. After game activities included burgers, dogs and
beverages with both teams attending. The Wicked play their next game
against Queenstown Hockey Club on October 20 at 6:15 pm at the Steel Ice
Center. |
